I am super excited about the response here. I am currently in the middle of creating three new pieces with the hope of creating eight in total by January for a show. Including some installation work. Yay! I could not be more excited to be working with other talented artist. Stephanie Wood in a artist in Orlando that I will be doing the show with. She is a talented artist that has been super kind to me since moving to Florida. The january show will be at the XL Gallery in downtown orlando. More information to come.

Carrie Mae
A painting I did of my grandmother, Carrie Mae Gooch. I used one of her grade school pictures. She used to tell me about how her mom would make her sit for hours while doing her hair up in rollers until she looked like Shirley Temple. She hated getting her hair down like this. I always loved her grade school pictures and wish I could have known her at that age.
I started on a painting about three years ago. I worked tirelessly on the painting for about month, hoping to clearly capture my feelings about the concept. I became frustrated with the direction that entire piece was heading and one night after being at the studio for far to long, did a white wash over the entire piece. I shoved it in closets and under beds, hoping to one day try again. So I recently uncovered and plan on finishing the piece. I am very eager to get started and know i will be able to fully translate my emotion.

So I am currently working on a painting that will be donated to "Art From the Heart", which is a fundraiser created by Studio by the Tracks. Last year I donated an older piece that I thought would appeal to the masses. I am pretty excited about this particular piece for many reasons. One being that is was created specifically for this fund raiser. Another reason i an excited about this piece, is because I am going to be collaborating with my boyfriend, Chad. This is my first collaborative piece and it is an unfamiliar thrill ,that could possibly be contributed by my OCD, to spend a tremendous amount of time getting all aspects of the painting how to image and then simply handing it over for a person to add whatever they want. I am looking forward to the finish product.
